Call for Submissions for the Gallery Gift Shop

Featured Artist Wall

2011Winter Season: March & April

Deadline: Works or proposals MUST be received on or before February. 23rd, 2011

- Artists must be a member of the WKP Kennedy Gallery. Artists must live or work in Ontario, preferably northern Ontario and the North Bay area, or have exhibited at the WKP Kennedy Gallery.
- All entries must be of original and unpublished artwork, conceived and created by the entrant.
- Maximum size 32" x 48", including frame. All works must be completely ready for wall hanging.
- An artist's submission will include all works that will be featured.
- A maximum of 10 works can be submitted. Please include a photo of each art work submitted.
- Digital photos may be sent to ? education@kennedygallery.org OR photographs may be dropped off at the Gallery during normal business hours.
- Submissions will be reviewed by the Gallery Selection Committee.
- Only the works selected will be featured.
- Decisions will be based on the quality of the work submitted and the thematic appropriateness of the works.
- The artist's submission will include brief biographical information and an artist?s statement
(30 - 80 words).
- A contract will be signed once an artist's work has been accepted for display.
- Accepted works will be displayed for a period of 2 months but this could be shortened or lengthened with mutual agreement of artist and shop.

W.K.P. Kennedy Gallery will not be responsible for works that are not picked up by deadline dates.
Commission: 70% for the Artist, 30% for the administration and operation of the Gallery Gift Shop.

Artists will be notified of the results of the selection process by February 25, 2011
The works will be on display on March 3rd , 2011.

Volunteering at the Gallery Shop

YES?WE NEED YOU!!!!!

We are currently seeking volunteers for the gift store in the WKP Kennedy Gallery. This is a great opportunity if you are an artist interested in meeting people in the community. It would also be the perfect opportunity for students seeking community volunteer hours. Volunteers at The Gallery Gift Shop has a variety of duties including light cleaning, sales and greeting of customers. We have a new sound system, so if you have an ipod or MP3 player, bring it in and spend the afternoon listening to music greeting avid art lovers of North Bay. We would need volunteers from 12- 4pm. If this is something you would be interested in please contact the shop coordinator at 474-1944 ext 234 or

VOLUNTEER 4 STUDIO TIME PROGRAM

As an added incentive for Gallery volunteers, the Kennedy Gallery offers free studio space for artists in our Arts Workshop in the basement of the Capitol Centre. The workshop is equipped with: easels, drawing mules, backdrop materials, a paper making machine, drying racks, locking cabinets and a large wash-up sink.
Our policy for volunteers states that all Gift Shop Volunteers will receive 2 free hours of studio time for each one worked as a volunteer in the Gift Shop. This incentive is only accessed after the volunteer has completed five hours of orientation and probationary volunteer status. WE ALSO NEED YOUR ART

Artists showing work at the Gallery Gift Shop must live or work in North Bay or the Blue Sky Region.
All media is welcome including glass, jewelry, ceramics, sculpture, photography, digital media, paper, acrylic, oil, watercolour, fabric, wood.
Maximum size 16" x 20", including frame. Maximum for 3D work, 12" square.
An artist's submission may include 3 snapshots, 3 e-mail digital photos, or artist's original printed material of readily available work. Digital photos may be sent to education@kennedygallery.org
Submissions will be reviewed by a selection committee.
Artists should consider that most pieces sell for under $250
Submissions should include a brief biography and an artist statement.
Accepted works will be displayed for a period of 2-3 months but this could be shortened or lengthened with mutual agreement.
If the artist would like to use his/her own display, a photo of the display case/material must be submitted for the selection committee to decide on whether or not it may be used.
If the work is sold 70% of the sale price will be given to the artist on a monthly basis. The Little Shop takes a 30% commission and all artists must be members at the gallery to submit to the little shop.
