The Visitor

Panya Clark Espinal

March 13 - April 10, 2004

"The Visitor" reveals Panya Clark Espinal's interest in different containers, their design, shape and colour. She also uses them as devices to control our private environment and to reflect on ways to deal with overabundance. To expand on the idea of containers, the gallery in which the exhibition is housed becomes another kind of container.

Curiously shaped compartments inserted into Panya Clark Espinal's new sculptural works guide our imaginations. Everyday domestic objects such as furniture and storage containers conceal enigmatic spaces that have been built inside them and are latent with the possibilities of imagined locales and events.

Organised for touring by Oakville Galleries. Curator: Marnie Fleming.
