Figuring It Out: The Campbell Curation

Why do artists choose the subjects they choose? What makes a good portrait? And, once executed, what does it all mean? These are some of the questions we are asking, and potentially answering, with this exhibition of figurative works from the W.K.P. Kennedy Gallery's permanent collection curated by father-daughter team Keith Campbell and Alex Maeve Campbell.

Keith Campbell is a master ceramicist and Artist-in-Residence Emeritus with Canadore College, and Alex Maeve Campbell is a mixed media artist and W.K.P. Kennedy Gallery Coordinator. Together they have selected works from the W.K.P. Kennedy Gallery's permanent collection, utilizing the theme of human figures. With works by Dennis Geden, Tom Cummings, Arlie Hoffman, Ted Fullerton, and many more, the co-curators present specifically chosen artwork that showcases the variety and versatility of these artists and their portraits and figurative works, be they paintings, prints, sketches, or sculpture. Many of the pieces selected have rarely or never been presented to the public, making this exhibition a fresh perspective in a variety of media from our permanent collection.

We invite you to come "figure it out" with us! The exhibition opens on Friday, July 19 from 6:30 to 9:30 pm during the Downtown Gallery Hop.
