Conversations in Colour

[ Website ]

The fourth in our series of discursive exhibitions, Conversations in Colour brings together two local painters whose interpretation of colour, composition and abstraction compliment one another and bring a dynamic interplay to our Gallery II space. Mackey was a painter of national renown in the sixties and after many years of devotion to family and to other creative endeavours, she is exhibiting again. Her new paintings explore her unique curvilinear staining technique which develops in layers into playful painted and poured impasto shapes and forms. Sara McIntosh who is originally from North Bay and a graduate of Queens University now paints and teaches in B.C. Her works are poured abstracts with elegant formations, repeating and layered. Elly and Sara are engaging in an exciting process of collaboration through which their current work is being transformed significantly.
