January 6 - March 4, 2017

Reception: January 6, 2017 6-9pm

This exhibition presents black and white photography which portrays life in Powassan in the 1970's. Victor Helfand, Toronto-based photographer, will join us at the reception on January 6th to share stories of his time spent living "on the land" in Powassan in the 1970's, when he moved up North in search of an alternative lifestyle among many other like-minded people.

This exhibition chronicles a socially significant period of time in Ontario reflective of the growing counter culture in North America in the 1970's. The series of black and white photographs portrays the lifestyle and personalities of Helfand's friends, their children, and a local family whose portraits record this particular place and time.
