Older Than America: A Screening Event in the Capitol Centre Theatre

Friday, July 24, 7:30 pm

Join us in the Capitol Centre theatre for a SCREENING EVENT featuring Los Angeles-based, First Nations film maker, Georgina Lightning. Ms. Lightning is a well-known independent film maker in the United States. Her newest film examines her relationship with her father and his experiences at a residential school in Northern Ontario.

The film is highly political and shows how the abuses suffered by First Nations children at the hands of Residential Schools employees and teachers lead to multi-generational problems. Toronto's Adam Beach stars in this important film. The gala screening of Older Than America on July 24th at the Capitol Theatre will be its Canadian premiere and certainly the first time that audiences will be able to engage with the film maker on these sensitive topics.
