Celebrate Summer! Printmaking Workshop

This workshop will introduce children ages 6 to 12 to the basic concepts and techniques of printmaking. Children will discover the joys of producing multiple copies of a single image while creating work about their favourite aspects of summer! Participants will bring home with them unique prints, note card stationary, and an accordion-style book showcasing their and their peers' prints. The workshop will cover the following printmaking techniques and concepts:

  • General overview of printmaking materials, tools, and terminology
  • Relief printing
  • Monotyping
  • How the press works
  • Editioning work
  • Accordion-style book binding

Cost: $15

When: August 4 and 5 from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Where: artstars studio located downstairs in the Capitol Centre

What to bring:

  • please bring an apron or smock
  • a snack
  • all other materials will be provided, though participants are encouraged to bring any of their own printmaking tools, materials (with the exception of oil-based inks), and papers
